Thursday Thoughts, 2010 Week Ten

Conference Races
The MWC and WAC races will be decided this weekend.  The Big XII South race will take shape (the North could as well with both Nebraska and Mizzou on the road).  The Pac 10 race will be down to two teams after Arizona visits Stanford.  Alabama and LSU will decide who has a chance to stay in the SEC West race.  The ACC Divisions will look a lot clearer with NC State and Maryland on the road and Virginia Tech and Florida State hosting teams clinging to hopes of a conference championship.  I love the first weekend in November!  The only thing decided through the first two months of the season is which teams are bad.  November then separates the good from the great.  Giddy up.

Gameday
ESPN College Gameday takes its third ever trip to the Beehive State.  The first two trips both preceded blowout wins for the favored team: Utah over BYU in 2004 and TCU over BYU in 2009 (a secondary common theme there seems quite obvious).  TCU is favored in this game.  Will the trend continue?  I'll make my predictions Thursday evening.

Catch Me If You Can
The Deseret News online edition had a priceless picture this week, by Brian Nicholson.  Did I cite my source fully enough?  It perfectly explains why BYU receivers are having problems catching the ball this season.

It's tough to catch a ball with your eyes closed.

  2. Loved your comment on the picture. I had seen it earlier but didn't pick up on the significance.
